Being Yamamoto's niece, Amamia learned alot about the navy from him. She applied to a naval academy and passed with flying colors, and he took her under his wing. Her first vessel to command was the Fire of the Sea, the huge ship suited for her daring and effective strategies. As the new Japanese colony in Borneo threatened the new empire with its rebellion, Amamia led the fleet to neutralize the threat, suffering no naval casualties, and only a few deaths on land. Amamia's crew and troops respect her for leading strongly and not overworking them, although she demands rigid discipline like most commanders. Many in the Imperial Japanese Nay, serving under her, called her the "Angel of Death".
